new dogman hotspot found?

Dogman Hunters Eye Texas’ New Post Oak Ridge State Park as a Hotspot

A brand-new Texas state park has one Reddit poster asking whether it could become the next place to watch for upright, dog-headed creatures.

The idea came from a user posting as freehorse, who shared it with the Dogman community on Reddit. In September 2026, Texas opened Post Oak Ridge State Park. The poster describes it as roughly 3,000 acres still being developed for trails and recreation. Park information lists it at 3,118 acres, west of Lampasas, and open for day use since September 24.

“Now I’m not saying there are Dogmen in the park,” the poster wrote, “but I am speculating whether this area might be worth checking out for potential Dogman activity.”

The Case for a Hotspot

The reasoning is about habitat and geography, not an actual sighting. The poster points out that the park is close to water, has plenty of open space, sits far from highways, and likely supports a healthy wildlife and prey population.

Location is the stronger argument. The poster says Lampasas, which sits “immediately east of the park,” has been linked to the so-called “Dogman Triangle” of Texas. They also hold a personal theory that a population cluster exists between Blanco and Burnet, both south of Lampasas.

The post closes with practical advice: “stay safe, tell a friend where you’re going and when you’ll be back, pack it in and pack it out.”

What the Thread Said

A few readers were ready to go. One wrote, “I’m down for an expedition.” Another urged people to “make sure you are trackable if you go out,” and the poster agreed: “Nobody wants to become the next hot story for a missing 411 podcast/youtube channel.” A commenter also shared a community-built map of Texas reports and said the state has “more dogman activity than most states.”

Not everyone was sold on the hunting-trip approach. One reader noted that the sightings that seem more legitimate usually happen to people who “either weren’t expecting it to happen at all or were not aware of the subject beforehand.” In other words, going looking is no guarantee of finding anything.

The poster had an answer. Even without a sighting, an expedition might turn up “scat, tracks, hair, nesting area, bone deposits,” and collecting that kind of data, they argued, is just as important.

Hotspot or Hype?

It is worth saying plainly that no one has reported a Dogman at Post Oak Ridge State Park. A skeptic would add that a new park brings new hikers, and more people in the woods means more reports of ordinary wildlife, shadows, and odd sounds. If sightings do start to trickle in, it will be hard to tell a real pattern from simple foot traffic.

Still, the thread is a good reminder of how these hotspots begin: someone looks at a map, notices water and woods near an old rumor, and wonders what else is out there.
