A video from Saltillo, Mexico shows an unidentified object hanging in the air over a wooded area for about five hours. The local outlet POSTA Mexico covered the reaction, and it is a good example of how a mystery looks before anyone has data.
What Was Filmed
The recording was posted by Yoel Jesús Dávila to the Facebook page Avistamientos Coahuilenses, which collects sighting reports in the state of Coahuila. According to his post, the object was visible on Sunday, October 11, from about 1 p.m. until about 6 p.m., near the Forestry School. The video shows it apparently hovering above trees. Dávila suggested it might be related to some kind of exploration of the planet, but that is only his comment, and no technical evidence came with it.
The report points out what is missing. No measurements of height, size, or trajectory were released, so the video documents a visual report but cannot tell us whether it is a craft, let alone an extraterrestrial one.
Balloon, Drone, or Something Else?
Commenters came up with plain explanations. One viewer, Víctor González Estrada, said he also saw the object, at a lower altitude near a gas station close to the Estrella neighborhood, and thought it was a balloon. Another suggested it was a balloon snagged in cables and that its apparent motion came from air currents. A drone was also mentioned. None of these have been confirmed, and without more images, weather information, or independent analysis, nobody can say which is closest.
Coahuila does have a UFO reputation. The report notes earlier sighting stories around the Sierra de Zapalinamé, Derramadero, Ramos Arizpe, and Estación Marte in General Cepeda, along with the Zone of Silence on the border with Durango and Chihuahua. In August 2025, researcher Jaime Maussan released images of a small metallic-looking object near the Derramadero ejido, which some coverage linked to the Buga sphere in Colombia.
The Five-Hour Problem
My honest take is closer to 40 percent open here. A five-hour stay is the detail that makes me lean toward something prosaic. Most known craft do not park motionless for an afternoon, but a tethered or snagged balloon does exactly that, and a witness who saw it from the ground nearby reported a lower altitude, which hints that it may not have been as high up as it looked. Still, I would like to know what was seen at the end of the day, since the object just stopped being visible around 6 p.m.
If anyone in Saltillo has a second angle, or knows of a balloon release, that would settle it fast. Until then it sits in the large pile of UFO reports that are interesting, local, and unverified.
